Change your credit card due date

I was poking around my chase account online last week and I noticed a link that said:

CHANGE BILL DUE DATE

It was then I recalled a common frustration I hear from my students... "All my bills are due in the first week of the month and it's putting me behind for the rest of the month."...or something to that effect.

I clicked the link and was offered this page...

Seemed simple enough.

Two more clicks and I was done.

I know enough about credit cards to know it's normally not that simple.  There had to be a catch...which was revealed moments later in an email...

As you requested, we have successfully submitted your request to change the due date on your credit card account.

Please note that you may see an increase in interest charges on your first statement following your due date change. Interest charges may increase due to a longer billing cycle in this first month.

Assuming no new charges were made, the minimum payment would be higher because of the longer time between payments but that would only happen the first month.

If you have a Chase account and this would help, go to it.  Most other cards will do the same for you but I don't know if it is an automated process.

Please let me know your experience doing this with your cards and it would be helpful to know that card company so I can pass that info onto others who may use the same card.

Thanks!

P.S. There is no reason you  couldn't call the  other companies you pay once a month...heat, light, electric etc and see if they could alter your due date as well.
