Back into the wilderness…

This is the third year in a row I've written about my experience at the annual Humor Conference I attend here in Upstate NY.

As I read my entry from last year and the year before that, I realized I could just change the dates and everything would be nearly the same.

The conference is held in  Silver Bay, NY the YMCA of the Adirondacks. The official title is "The Positive Power of Humor and Creativity" put on by the Humor Project.

I’ve been attending this conference since 1990 as a volunteer and it’s something I look forward to every year.  This year about 300 people from around the world gathered to attend sessions on using humor and creativity in their daily lives.

I found only one interesting license plate this year.

Dopamine is a brain chemical that helps control the brain's reward and pleasure centers.

I also got my picture taken with another celebrity...

That is Peter Funt.  His father Allen Funt started Candid Camera back in the late 1940s and he carries on the tradition.   He was on the TV show back in the 1990s but it hasn't been on the air since then.

I told him my favorite candid camera bits involved bowling alleys.

The shock of the weekend came on Sunday AM as I was headed to breakfast.  Comedian Brett Leake was coming toward me and before he could see my name tag he said ..."it's the inverse paranoids guy!"  He was actually referencing THIS blog post of mine from 2010.

He thanked me for the kinds words.  That was impressive...he'd remembered that from almost two years before.

All in all another terrific weekend with a bunch of great people, attendees and volunteers.
