Do you need a “Moneytude” adjustment?

If you're on Facebook you've probably noticed something new.

Advertisements that appear in your "newsfeed" made to look like they came from a friend.

Have you seen them?

Is your reaction like these?

Some of the language used in these comments is "interesting".    But the characterization of these ads as "spam" is wrong.

Facebook is free.   They can do whatever they want.

The people who own the company and work there deserve the ability to pay their bills as much as you do.

If you are not willing to pay to use FB (and of course, we've not been offered that option) you have absolutely no say in what may appear in your "newsfeed".

You absolutely have the right to stop using FB in protest.  I'm sure someone will miss you and your shining, positive attitude.

You'll see the most vitriol in the comments directed at companies advertising "money-making" opportunities.

This is particularly interesting to me because my guess is that the people making those comments wouldn't mind making a little extra money, using their computer, themselves.

They wouldn't mind being able to afford to run their own advertisements that make them money.

Now I'm not saying that all money-making ads are legit.  Certainly some are complete junk but many don't work because of the person staring back  in the mirror.

We've all been guilty of snickering at successful people who are aggressive in getting what they want.

Yup, me too.

But when you think about it, the reason they are successful is that the snickers don't bother them.

And the reason we aren't as successful as we could be is that we don't like the idea of people snickering at us or disliking us.

The most hated people in the media are often the wealthiest....because millions of people also LOVE them.

Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Chris Matthews, John Stewart, Sean Hannity etc.

Sure we'd all like the benefits of success but the question becomes are we willing to face the criticism from others...the same criticism we've directed at others.

That is VERY hard to overcome.

But you start by not judging others (advertisers) who choose to earn a living in a way you don't.  If they aren't killing baby seals or stealing grandma's jewelry collection let them be. Get some good ideas from them and ignore what you don't like.

If you are going to be successful at the highest level you will face criticism.

People won't like you.

And you have to be OK with that or you'll suffer a life of anger and resentment as you are relegated to using free online resources to bitch and complain about people who are actually out there contributing to society.

If you don't like the way "they" are contributing to society, get out there and do it better.

I know some people are going to absolutely HATE this blog post!  :>)
