The Fast, Feast, Repeat Experiment…
I picked up this book on June 24. 2021 at my local library.
Fast. Feast. Repeat.: The Comprehensive Guide to Delay, Don't Deny® Intermittent Fasting--Including the 28-Day FAST Start is a book on Intermittent Fasting (IF) by Gin Stephens.
She lost 80lbs doing this and turned it into a nice little business.
She has a couple podcasts but my favorite is her just interviewing people who've followed her program successfully.
It's called "Intermittent Fasting Stories"...available where all quality podcasts are heard.
She has a great FB community and now she has her own community so check those out if interested. (Google it)
I've done IF off and on for years but this book convinced me to give it a real try.
I've been at this about 3 weeks and I've lost 0 pounds. First week I stayed the same...second week GAINED a pound and this week back to my starting weight.
Now, to be fair, I don't need to lose much.
IF has been a part of my life for years so it's not a shock to my body.
I need to lose maybe 5 to 7lbs...I'm 6'1" and weigh 192 pounds. I weighed 185 in high school and I've learned you don't make people happy saying "I weigh what I did in HS!"
Also, I've probably eaten more than I should during my eating window, knowing that I'll not be eating for 16-18 hours.
I'm not sure why this is...I've done IF for years but now that I've read a book, I suddenly am afraid I'll be starving during the fast? Weird.
I like to finish eating around 3 or 4 PM because that means I'll be sleeping for a big portion of the fasting time. A cold glass of water in the AM is enough to quell any rumbling in my stomach.
I have dinner with my parent's on Sunday night so typically I stop eating around 7PM which means breakfast for me can start anytime after 11AM the next day.
I can't say I've noticed any dramatic changes in energy level or hair regrowth (not a typical side-effect but one can hope) but I do like going to sleep with a mostly empty stomach.
I will keep you posted.
If you're new here, I start a new experiment every week in the areas of health, wealth, self improvement and more.
